# How does proxy authentication work?

Swiftproxy offers two main authentication methods:

* **Username: Password Authentication:** Enter your unique credentials in your software or browser to authenticate.

{% endhint %}

* **IP Whitelist Authentication:** Register your device’s IP address in the Swiftproxy dashboard to allow automatic access without credentials.

{% endhint %}

Both methods ensure secure access, and you can choose whichever suits your use case best.
